School-Aged Yoga Program
This program is designed to elevate the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of young learners through an engaging and comprehensive yoga experience.
This course emphasizes the development of gross motor skills while introducing students to a variety of yoga poses that become progressively more challenging. Students will explore twisting postures, oppositions, and balance exercises, which fosters strength, flexibility, and coordination. Throughout the course, mindfulness practices will take center stage, allowing students to cultivate awareness.
Each class will introduce fun and interactive breathwork techniques, encouraging children to connect with their breath as a tool for relaxation and focus.
Students will be challenged both physically and mentally, as they engage in poses that require increased balance and alignment. Real-life connections will be woven into the curriculum, enabling learners to understand the relevance of yoga principles in their daily lives. Through guided instruction and supportive peer interaction, participants will develop a greater appreciation for their bodies and minds, fostering a sense of confidence and self-awareness.
Class Structure
Class Length: 30-45 minutes
Introduction: Theme, class structure and expectations are introduced.
Breath Work: We aim for 1 minute of deep breathing, using whichever breathing technique was chosen for the day.
Warmup: Engaging full body warmup, and Sun Salutations are introduced.
Poses & Games: During this portion, movement relating to class theme are executed as well as any related yoga related games are played during this time.
Cool Down: Seated and reclined poses to calm the class down preparing for savasana.
Savasana & Meditation: Children are asked to sit and focus on either a visual or the music that is playing in the background for 1-2 minutes
Goodbye: Final encouraging words are said, mats are cleaned up, Goodbye until next time.

Yoga provides many benefits to children and their development. Yoga improves physical wellness by increasing strength and flexibility. Children will grow body awareness and coordination through movements. They also are introduce to stress reduction tools early in life, increasing mindfulness and improve focus. Class also build relationships with peers building a close community.

Making children's yoga class fun involves incorporating engaging activities, storytelling, music, and playfulness. Use of story-based yoga sequences allow children to use their imagination and creativity. The program integrate fun yoga poses and encourages kids to make sounds or act out specific movements. Additionally, interactive games like yoga-inspired Simon Says keep children interested and active.

Classes are based off a child's abilities. Postures like downward dog, mountain, tree pose and child pose are examples of age appropriate poses that kids love and are capable of completing.
Theme
Kindness/Friendship: Age appropriate affirmations like “I choose to be kind even when its is difficult” & “It feels good to put kindness into the world” are used while in basic yoga poses to introduce positive affirmation.
Around the World: Travel around the world seeings different major landmarks in this class. Take deep breath to travel to new locations and explore major landmarks and recreate landmarks using our body to create shapes.
Self Love: Affirmation are utilized during the class to promote self love, and aid in overcoming negative self talk and image. This class aims on physical strength and building positive self talk.
